Licentiate and PhD in Pastoral Theology of Human Mobility

On 7 October 2013 the new academic year of SIMI will begin. SIMI is an institute incorporated to the Pontifical Urbanian University which offers a licentiate program and a doctorate program in Pastoral Theology of Human Mobility. Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Care of Human Mobility

In November 2013 SIMI will start the second edition of the academic program on-line titled "Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Care of Human Mobility." This program is offered in three languages (Italian, Spanish and English) particularly to pastoral agents who work or are due to work in the migrant ministry. Death of Fr. Graziano Tassellon

On 24 March 2014, Fr. Graziano Tassello, Scalabrinian missionary and very appreciated professor at SIMI, died peacefully in his religious house in Basel, Switzerland. Since ever man of action of the Scalabrinian Congregation, attentive to the phenomena of human mobility and theological interpreter of them, in the past years Fr. Tassello was director of CSERPE, the center for migration studied based in Basel. All professors and students at SIMI join in the mourning of his family and the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles.

The Culture of the Encountern

With the occasion of the Communication Week, on Saturday 24 May 2014, from 09:00 to 13:30 hrs., at its operative office, located in via Dandolo 58, Rome, SIMi, in collaboration with CSER, l'UCoS and the Edizioni Paoline, organizes a round table discussion titled, "La cultura dell'incontro. La complessa accoglienza dello straniero" (The Culture of the Encounter. The Complex Welcoming of the Stranger). Innocenzo Cardellini, Arianna Montanari, Paola Di Lazzaro, Luigi Manconi and Valentina Bridis will participate in the debate. Download here the poster of the event.

Presentation of SE193 in Milann

On 11 April  2014, at 11:00 hrs., at the Sala Negri da Oleggio of the Catholic University of Milan, SIMI, in cooperation with the Centro di Ricerca WWELL, CSER, ASCS, ISMU and Fondazione Migrantes, organizes the presentation of issue 193 of Studi EmigrazioneThe issue, dedicated to the memory of the late Fr. Beniamino Rossi (in the pic beside), collects the proceedings of the IV Edition of the Summer School "Human Mobility and Global Justice" titled "Dignità liquide. Violenze, soprusi, riscatti e speranze nelle vite dei migranti." Download here the  poster of the event.

Round Table Discussion at CSERn

On 27 March 2014, at 17:00 hrs., at its headquarter in via Dandolo 58, Rome, CSER organizes a round table discussion titled, "L'Italia delle migrazioni: tra prospettiva storica e sviluppi possibili" (Italy of Migrations: Historical Perspectives and Possible Developments). The event would entail the participation of Prof. Antonio Golini, Dr.  Carla Collicelli, Prof. Matteo Sanfilippo and Dr. Michele Colucci. In such occasion the book by Corrado Bonifazi "L'Italia delle migrazioni" (Italy of Migrations), published by Mulino in 2013 will be presented. Download here the program of the event.

Seminar in St. Petersburgn

On 20 March 2014 SIMI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the St. Petersburg State Agrarian University and the Foundation of the same university. As a first initiative within the new cooperation framework, on the20 March 2014 the  singing institutions jointly organized a seminar on "Migration, Development and Agriculture," a theme of emerging interest both in Italy and in Russia. The Seminar was held in the Aula Magna of St. Petersburg Agrarian University. Numerous students and scholars attended the event. Four professors from SIMI presented a contribution to the four sessions of the seminar.

SIMI Day with Card. De Paolisn

In cooperation with the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontifical Urbanian University, on 13 March 2014 a SIMI Day titled "Migrants' Evangelization: Between History and Present". The event, which entailed the participation of students of both organizing institutions, was honored by the presence of of H.E. Cardinal Velasio De Paolis, who delivered a lectio magistralis followed by an interesting debate. Download here the brochure introducing the event.

Seminar with UPSn

In collaboration with the Università Pontificia Salesiana (UPS), on 24 February 2014, starting from 2,30pm, SIMI organizes a seminar titled "Migrazione, giovani e intercultura." The event will be held in Rome, at the Aula Paolo VI of UPS. In the seminar prof. Francics-Vincent Anthony, prof. Aldo Skoda, prof. Vito Orlando e prof. Fabio Baggio will present their contributions. The event will be honored by the presence of Dr. Rita Cutini, Assessore al Sostegno Sociale e Sussidiarietà of Roma Capitale, e H. E. Msgr. Silvano Tomasi, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to UN in Ginevra. Download here the program of the seminar.
